About This Training
Constructing Critique: “Can I get your feedback?” is a question we’re asked a lot in the writing world, and it can sometimes be quite daunting to know how to proceed. Subjective reaction over prescriptive advice is emphasized, but the presentation focuses on how to provide useful and constructive comments as well as how to engage the author in a conversation to better elicit useful feedback. Methods which center the story and not its author—concentrating on specific needs of each story—are discussed as well, followed by a live presentation of in-line comments for a flash fiction piece to illustrate the concepts provided
