Gorgeous Imagery: The Art of Horror

This workshop will focus on the beautiful images and sense of awe that often accompanies horror. We will look at some examples from horror writing and film, and we will do some timed writing exercises to begin working with these ideas. This is the first of a three-workshop series designed to help participants  work on vividness, concreteness, and style in their writing.

Exquisite Prose: Beauty in Horror

Saturday May 18th @ 1pm EST

This workshop will focus on stylistic features such as sentence structure and word choice in horror writing. We will look at some examples of prose that has been considered beautiful and will experiment with different approaches in timed writing exercises. This is the second of a three-workshop series designed to help participants work on vividness, concreteness, and style in their writing.

Building Unforgettable Settings

Saturday August 10th @ 1pm EST

This workshop will focus on the importance of setting in horror. We will discuss the association horror readers have with certain settings and will share new ideas for story settings, especially those based on personal observations. This is the third of a three-workshop series designed to help participants work on vividness, concreteness, and style in their writing.
